There is a gap to the two sections of metal which hold the lead. It functions as a normal pencil would. The lead is 8mm in length and 3mm diameter at its widest point. There is light general wear throughout. At least one of the inlaid gold metal diamonds lost. Some possible dents and misshaping to the section which holds the lead and the upper section of the pencil, the case also with some surface losses to the finish, scratches, crazing. The marks are unfortunately too small to capture in focus, also somewhat rubbed. The case does have numerous chips and losses to the lacquered surface.
