Auction has ended! Condition ReportWidth of outer case 23cm, width of rosewood case 17.25cm, diameter of bezel of dial 12cm, diameter of silvered dial itself 9.25cm. The piece is complete with the winding key, the gimbal all works well and it does tick when wound. There are a few spots to the silvered dial and some pitting and light rusting to the gimbal and metal framework throughout. There is one tiny screw missing to the plate that covers the winding hole underneath the chronometer. The case itself has a split running horizontally from the rear brass corners and a very fine split starting to form halfway along at the front of the lid. Otherwise general surface wear to the case and some pitting to the brass. The circular ivory roundel is missing beneath the escutcheon and we do not have the key for the case itself. The outer mahogany case has a split to the base and the leather strap is somewhat perished. General surface wear throughout, as you would expect. Appears to be the original lid. Condition ReportThe case is heavily worn, hinges have been replaced to the lid showing the section where the previous hinges have been, which have snapped through the wood leaving unsightly marks. Auction has ended! Condition ReportThe case itself is very heavily worn but with the majority being surface marks. There are also some handwritten inscriptions detailing numbers and names. The globe itself is slightly stained but spins correctly. There are two pins locating to the frame and a third pin or pointer attached to the bar on the inside of the lid. Some pitting to the frame, which is numbered 2564 and some heavier wear around the centre of the globe, as you might expect. There is also a very tiny old repair where the lower pin locating to the frame. Please see additional photographs.
