View details Estimate£500 - £800Winning Bid£820StatusCLOSED Lot 1758 An early George III pollard oak eight day longcase clock, the caddy top above 12 inch brass dial inscribed 'Foden, Congleton' with date arched aperture above long shaped door, rounded quarter pillars to a plinth base, height approx 210cm. Thomas Foden of Congleton is registered as working in the town between 1753 and 1785. Estimate£500 - £800Winning Bid£440StatusCLOSED Condition ReportThis is a good honest clock which has not had any repair over the years, apart from a couple of minor pieces of spliced wood to the carcass. It does however require attention, the wood on the right hand side of the plinth base has lifted, there is a split to both the base and the door. Some old signs of woodworm to the back panels which are heavily worn in parts. There are some knocks and small sections missing and done a long time ago to the upright pillars. The Dial movement and case look as if they have been together since day one. The clock is sold with winding key, case key, pendulum and two weights.
