Phoebe Rennell was born in Clapham, London and attended the local Clapham School of Art, later working as a calligrapher, illuminator and illustrator in the Arts & Crafts tradition of William Morris and Walter Crane and a potential student of Edward Johnston or Graily Hewitt, Miss Rennel also occupied Fydell House in Boston during WWII and escaped unharmed when the house suffered bomb damage.
