Lot 300 of 1739: MARTIN BROTHERS, SOUTHALL LONDON; a stoneware tobacco jar and cover representing a grotesque Wally Bird, decorated in shades of blue, white, green and brown, signed to the internal rim of the cover and the foot rim of the piece, raised on circular plinth base, height 17.5cm. Provenance: The Bird was originally purchased by/gifted to the late vendor's mother-in-law directly from the Martin Brothers and has remained in the same family ever since.
