Lot 368 of 2418: ATTRIBUTED TO VILLEMSENS OF PARIS FOR THE GREAT EXHIBITION OF 1851; a very large and good quality mid 19th century gilt bronze ewer, with high scrolling handles surmounted with a winged cherub, acanthus leaf grape and vine and decoration throughout with ram's head mask, central body decorated with Bacchanalian putti and spreading circular foot, height 97cm. The illustrated exhibitor of 1851 shows an identical ewer of this design shown at the Great Exhibition in Crystal Palace in 1851. Proven
